Planet Aid Projects for the Environment

The nonprofit activities of Planet Aid involve saving the environment and reducing poverty all over the world. The workers give donations of shoes and clothes to the communities that need them the most. Started in 1997, this organization has raised millions of dollars to support places in over a dozen countries.

Currently, Planet Aid sponsors 60 projects that involve recycling, training teachers, developing better communities and improving public health. Also, this group works to decrease landfill waste and greenhouse gases. Volunteers can help out on farms in Africa or work as teachers in Latin America. The Child Aid program is designed to improve the futures of impoverished children. Donations are made to ensure that the kids attend school and consume healthy meals regularly. Due to generous donations, they receive vaccines, school supplies, garden tools and mosquito nets. It takes only $50 a year to support one family. At the $500 level, buy water well for a community that needs clean water.

Thousands of yellow Planet Aid donation bins are available all over the U.S. Organization members team up with important leaders of high schools, colleges and companies that are interested in donating clothes with tax deductions. There are 14 warehouses that operate in different U.S. states and regions. All clean, reusable shoes and clothes can be donated for good causes. According to the charity, donating clothes leads to more jobs, less landfill and fewer greenhouse gas emissions.

Recycling is an important activity for adults and children to learn. This act is necessary to create a cleaner environment with less air, water and soil pollution. Volunteers carry out school programs that involve collecting donations for books and clothes.

The Manager in Training (MIT) program is made for volunteers who want to work in the management field. As they complete the 30-month program, they are able to earn work experience. Once they finish the program, they can look for leadership jobs in one of the aid offices. Interested people should fill out the form online.

To stay informed, people can read the blog on the Planet Aid website. One or more times a month, writers post information about the important projects that they are undertaking. Learn about the various projects that are occurring locally or internationally. Interested people are encouraged to connect through social media sites and sign up for updates on the website.

Planet Aid is involved in the business of saving the planet and its people. The organization has helped improve the lives of countless people since the ‘90s. Supporting a group like this is not difficult. Anyone can donate clothes, and any business owner can host a bin. Unwanted items become treasures for the millions of people who live in impoverished homes throughout the world. Also, donations reduce the amounts of toxic chemicals needed to make new clothes. Landfill workers deal with less garbage, and children learn how to recycle responsibly. The donation project is only one of the 60 projects that Planet Aid sponsors to make the world a better place.
